Reiki means spiritually guided life energy. It originated in Japan as a technique for stress reduction and relaxation, which enhanced the body's ability to heal.
No, Reiki is not a religious practice. It is a spiritual practice that involves channeling energy through the practitioner's hands to promote healing and balance. Anyone can benefit from Reiki. It is beneficial for people of all ages and backgrounds, including those with chronic illnesses, mental health conditions, and stress-related issues.
Reiki is not a cure for illnesses. However, it can promote healing and reduce the symptoms associated with illnesses by reducing stress and balancing the recipient's energy. Studies performed at Hartford Hospital in Connecticut found that Reiki patients had less pain, quicker recovery periods, and fewer complications from surgical procedures. Over 900 hospitals currently offer Reiki treatments.
Chakras are energy centers throughout the body that connect to the central nervous system and brain. They process chemicals, hormones, and energetic information. These centers often get "clogged" due to stress, interactions with other people, and environmental influences. When this occurs, energy does not properly flow through our system and we draw energy from our body's electromagnetic field. We begin to feel lethargic, become unable to handle life's daily stressors, and our bodies may become dysfunctional.
According to britannica.com, traditional shamanism originated in Northern and Central Asia and was derived from the noun, saman, and the verb "sa" meaning "to know". Thus, a shaman is "one who knows". Shamans performed religious ceremonies and healings by entering an altered state of consciousness, which allowed them to work with the spirit realm. Although some argue that classic shamanism only exists in the Artic and Central Asia, the term shamanism was later attributed to the indigenous cultures of Africa, Australia, and the Northern and Southern Americas. It is believed that through immigration, all cultures at some point in history had designated healers and leaders that communicated with spirit guides and were considered shamans.
My shamanic training comes from the lineage of Alberto Villoldo, the founder of The Four Winds Society. For nearly 50 years, Alberto has been working with the Q'ero shamans of the Andes, the last remaining Inka of Peru. They trained Alberto specifically to bring knowledge back to Westerners, to begin healing past traumas and reunite with nature and the spirit realm. It is believed that we all have a luminous energy field that surrounds us and maintains the health of the body. Using tools and techniques handed down for thousands of years, Alberto learned how to transform soul wounds into sources of power, allowing those he encountered to rise above the darkness. Healing is a journey, not a procedure. Allow me to share these techniques with you to help balance your shadow self with love and light.
The main techniques used in my practice include:
